Welcome Students - Risk Solver Platform and Premium Solver for Education

Welcome Students

If you're enrolled in an appropriate course and you have the textbook for that course, you can download either our new Risk Solver Platform for Education, or our older Premium Solver for Education, for use in your course.  The software that you can download depends on the textbook you are using -- the newest textbook editions are based on Risk Solver Platform for Education, but there are a number of older textbook editions still in use that are based on Premium Solver for Education.

To download the Setup program, just fill out the form below, and click the Download Now button. (It's OK if you've registered on this site previously with the same email address.)  Turn off pop-up blockers if necessary. You should see a dialog asking "Do you want to run or save this file?"  Click Save to save the file, and run it later by double-clicking the filename.  The Setup program will prompt you for a password, and possibly for a license activation code, which will be emailed to you.

To complete this form, you'll need a Textbook Code, found at the front or back of your textbook, and a Course Code, which you can get from your instructor.  If you can't find these, call us at 775-831-0300 and press 0 (9am - 5pm Pacific time GMT-7), or email us at academic@solver.com.  Check the box only if your Excel 2010 has a File tab, you click File then Help, and you see "About Microsoft Excel:  Version 14.x.x.x (64-bit)."

If you are an instructor and you want a free Course Code for your course, or if you have a textbook that covers Risk Solver Platform or Premium Solver for Education but you're not enrolled in a course, call or email us as above -- we can help you.

IMPORTANT NOTE TO INSTRUCTORS:  Since June 2009, Premium Solver for Education V7.0 (PSE) has been superseded by the newer and much more powerful Risk Solver Platform for Education V10.0 (RSPE).  It's important that you contact us at academic@solver.com about this.  PSE will not be available after the 2009-2010 academic year -- but RSPE will be!

If you have problems downloading or installing, please email info@solver.com or call 775-831-0300 and press 4 (tech support). Tell us which product you have (RSPE or PSE), and have your Course Code and Textbook Code available. If you have problems setting up or solving your model, or interpreting the results, please ask your instructor for assistance; Frontline Systems cannot help you with homework problems.

Older textbooks have CDs with a Premium Solver for Education Setup program bound into the book; however the software on CDs is not guaranteed to be the latest version. The trend with the latest textbooks is to use the download version. This page is the one place where you can download the very latest version of the software.  There are no CD versions of our software available with support for the forthcoming Excel 2010, but you will be able to download new software versions from this page that work (amazingly well!) with Excel 2010, after the new Excel and Office products are released.

P.S.:  If you're using a Mac with Excel 2008, you may have learned that VBA -- and the standard Solver -- are missing!  We're sorry -- Risk Solver Platform and Premium Solver for Education is only available for Windows Excel right now.  But we have developed a new Solver for Mac Excel 2008 (with all features of the standard Excel Solver), that we're making available to everyone for free.  Visit www.solver.com/mac for the latest news about downloading this free Mac Solver.
